COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

1. What is a community, what is a connection, and how are they related?
Community is a group of people who come together, members tend to share particular characteristics in common. It's a place where people can communicate, connect, and get to know each other better over time. It gives people a sense of purpose and belonging. Connection means to have a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or associated with something else. Community and connection are related because you need to be able to connect with people in order to have a sense of community.
In other words, if you don’t connect with people in your community you won’t really be apart of that community. Connection is essential to feel like you belong. If you don’t have connection you won’t have a community.
An example would be Fandoms. I see so many fandoms on social media. A fandom is a community of people who all like a certain artist. Their love for that particular artist forms a connection that creates a community.
2. What other information do you need to consider to better understand connections and community?
I think you need to understand the people in your community. You should know why you're in that particular community and have have shared interests. You also need to be compassionate and understanding.
In other words, to keep a community you need to be able to empathize with others to avoid conflict. Being able to see things from someone else’s point of view will also help build connections.
An example would be: someone in your community posted something that you don’t necessarily agree with instead of being judgmental you can try to see it from their point of view and be understanding, if your in a community you should always try to be supportive and non judgemental with other members.  
The key question at the heart of the assignment is: “Do you have a better understanding of community & connection and how they relate to each other?”

    I totally agree on what Connections and Community are!! Maybe other people can learn about this in order to have better responses and hopefully the response that people receive will help them out in the future!!

    Hi Elena! I like how you went into depth about the first question, "What is a community, what is a connection, and how are they related?" You mentioned fandoms and that is so true! Fandoms are super into depth about and they all share the same connection which makes it even deeper.

EDITORIAL ON UNTRUTHFUL NEWS

I feel like it would be difficult to completely eliminate fake news. You would have to have someone or a system monitoring and censoring everything, all the social media networks and websites. I think it'll be impossible for a single person to do. It might work with a big group of people but you would have to make sure these people are unbiased. If there where a machine or program that can fact check things so it's easier to sort whats real and what's fake, it could work.
